Project Notes – Courtyard by Marriott Morgantown, WV
This Courtyard by Marriott is different from most other hotel builds in the Morgantown area because it is made primarily of cement block making it more sound proof, energy efficient, and safe in contrast to the wood construct of other hotels. Innovation is also evident in the use of prefabricated bathroom pods in all of its 107 guest rooms, the first Marriott hotel in the state to do so. The prefabricated bathroom pods were incorporated to save time and ensure consistency in quality across all 107 of the guestrooms.
Waller Corporation, the general contractor for the project turned to SurePods™, the leading provider of prefabricated bathrooms in North America. Greg Kittredge of Waller Corporation shared the following “Anytime we needed anything, any questions we asked, anything we asked SurePods to do, was all addressed with the effort and professionalism we would like to be addressed with all the time.”
The design firm for the project, Mills Group, noted “Working with the SurePods™ team was easily achieved with their advanced technology and willingness to collaborate. SurePods™ has been responsive to Marriott as well as our own specific hotel needs. This has enabled Mills Group to be a part of a uniquely engineered solution that will prove to be the best quality product for our owners and this Courtyard by Marriott hotel.”
