Tallest Building West of the Mississippi Built with SurePods Pre-fab Bathrooms

Opened this summer, the 73-story, 1,100-foot tall Wilshire Grand Center in downtown Los Angeles is the tallest building west of the Mississippi River. With a curved top reminiscent of Yosemite National Park’s Half Dome granite formation, the building has also been whimsically described as a “gorgeous nest” for Los Angeles.

Another feature of the tower’s key tenant – a 900-room InterContinental Hotel – is the hotel’s beautifully appointed pre-fabricated bathrooms. Architect Chris Martin credits the SurePods bathrooms with helping the project team complete the building months faster than would have been possible with bathrooms built on site. “The fact that we had the bathrooms completed and shipped into place, that savings was incalculable,” he said in an interview with LA’s KPCC radio.
