Project Description:
In response to the increasing demand for quality healthcare in Charlotte, North Carolina, Atrium Health, a leading healthcare facilitator, decided to expand its infrastructure. The Palmetto Tower is an 8-story, 236,000 sq. ft. addition to the Atrium Health Pineville campus. This was part of a larger system-wide expansion plan, which added four facilities and 500 licensed patient beds. SurePods supported four of these projects, standardizing patient bathrooms across campuses.
SurePods Scope:
SurePods provided patient bathroom pods for 180 rooms for this project. During the preconstruction phase, SurePods developed two full-scale bathroom mockups to provide the Atrium Health team with a tangible preview of the proposed designs. These mockups allowed the team to physically inspect and evaluate key design elements, including the flooring options. After reviewing the mockups, the project team made the decision to choose epoxy flooring over tile.
Originally, the 6th and 7th floor of this building were left as shell space for future expansion, but were prepped for the installation of 72 pods - 36 per floor. Once ready, SurePods returned to install the additional pods in 2024.
