This past spring Marriott International announced its Modular Construction Initiative to use prefabricated bathrooms or guestrooms in 50 hotels in 2017, accounting for more than 10 percent of the company’s “Select Brand” developments in North America for the year. The initiative continues strongly with the recent opening of the Marriott Residence Inn Long Island East End in Riverhead, New York.
To speed development of the 131-room extended stay property on the eastern end of Long Island, Lee Browning, Sr., CEO of Browning Hotel Properties chose SurePods pre-fabricated bathroom pods.
In addition to helping the hotel get “heads on beds” sooner to start producing revenue, the modular bathrooms will provide hotel guests a first-rate experience. As the Marriott Residence Inn brand’s tagline is, “It’s not a room, it’s a Residence,” attention to detail is crucial for creating a home-like environment.
